Title : R177 Armagh road to R215 Redcow Transport Corridor Link Consultancy Services
Description : The objective of the proposed scheme is to provide a transport corridor through the northern hinterland of Dundalk which will cater for growth and development over the 20 year period 2025 2044 during which time the population of the town is expected to grow significantly. The lands to the north of the town centre have been zoned for both commercial and residential use. Additional infrastructure is required to enable access to these areas and also to cater for new locally generated traffic. The proposed scheme will cater for a medium level of development in the future. This scenario is considered the most appropriate level of sustainable development for the aforementioned period. The existing environment consists of a former golf course and agricultural land with a mixture of pasture and tillage fields. The proposed road scheme will allow for development of the lands on both sides of the route and will also help avoid the likely build up of traffic congestion which would occur in Dundalk town centre. The proposed scheme will include for either a new overbridge or upgrades to existing bridge infrastructure on the Dublin to Belfast railway line and potential junctions, linking to the existing and proposed road networks.
