Title : Game Changer Programme Evaluation
Description : Game Changer is a three-year programme that seeks to harness the positive influence of Gaelic Games in Irish communities to challenge the social and cultural norms that contribute to domestic, sexual and gender-based violence. The core objective of the programme is to engage men and boys on the topic of DSGBV prevention and to drive positive behavioural change in Ireland, including encouraging support for gender equality, active male allyship, and increasing awareness of the pathways to support services available to those experiencing DSGBV. The programme aims to create a pathway of awareness, engagement and action among target audiences. This will enable the activation of new allies for sustainable cultural and behavioural change in local clubs, communities and the wider population. The key stages of the programme will run concurrently and include: • Benchmarking research • Internal GAA awareness raising campaign • GAA ‘healthy relationships’ e-learning module • National advertising campaign Further deliverables of the programme may include in-person trainings and workshops, resource development, and further awareness raising initiatives in line with the programme objectives. Game Changer is a strategic response to deliver on the goals of the Government’s Third National Strategy on Domestic, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence. The programme is lead out by Ruhama, the Men’s Development Network (White Ribbon Ireland), and the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), with the support of the Ladies Gaelic Football (LGFA) and Camogie Associations, as well as Cuan. Funding for Game Changer has been provided by the Department of Justice under the aegis of Cuan.
