In spring 2024 the Ministry of Education and Research gave assignments to the Norwegian Directorate of Education and Research for the establishment of such a research programme, and in autumn 2024 started the Research Programme for digitalisation and digital competence in kindergartens and schools. The research programme shall be a strategic, target orientated and time-limited effort, which shall result in an increased knowledge basis for digitalisation and digital competence in Norwegian nurseries and schools.

Main features of the procedure : This is the first assignment published within the research programme. This assignment is limited to school, from 1st stage to sixth form college. There is a need for knowledge about the role digitalisation plays in Norwegian classrooms and on how digitalisation affects learning and assessment. The aim of the assignment is to give a picture of the role digitalisation can have on pupils ́ learning outcomes. The assignment shall cover the entire 13 year school run and include the connection between during and final evaluation.
