2.1.4 General information

Additional information : The works consist of: -­ Preparation of Main Design for Heavy Maintenance Works (Road Rehabilitation ­Upgrading); -­ Civil works in accordance with approved Main Design for Heavy Maintenance. The heavy maintenance (road rehabilitation ­upgrading) works on specified section shall be entirely executed in accordance with the approved and accepted Contractor’s Main Design. They are assumed to be consist of the following: -­ Preliminary works include removal of excessive vegetative material and waste, demolishing of road elements (kerbs, gutters, edge strips, pavement) and profiling of the remaining existed pavement for the purpose of road widening; -­ Substructure works include excavation, subsoil treatment, construction of embankment on widenings, gabions, shoulders and berms; ­- Superstructure works which include pavement construction on access roads; works on pavement structure widenings, improvement of pavement (construction of bituminous bearing course layers, and construction of wearing asphalt concrete course), as well as placement of concrete curbs and construction of gutters; ­- Works on structures (bridges) which include widenings, milling of the existing asphalt layer, construction or replacement of waterproofing, construction of asphalt layers (leveling course if needed, wearing course, asphalt layer on sidewalk), demolition and reconstruction of the curbs, repair or replacement of the bearing parts, repair or replacement of the expansion devices, repair of the protective layers, bridge drainage, repair of fences and guardrails, regulation of hydraulic watercourse profile in the bridge area; - Structure’s works and drainage improvement include cleaning of the existing culverts, and widening and rehabilitation of existing and construction of new elements of the drainage system; ­- Works on unstable slopes which include rock excavation, earth works, cleaning of the surface, installation of retaining structures like gabions, concrete walls, terramesh or terre arme structures, drainage facilities, anchor installations, sprayed concrete etc.; -­ Roadside arrangement and placement of traffic signalization and road furniture.
