Title : Provision of Services to facilitate Shore to Shore Heritage, History and Folklore through different lenses: A project of the Sligo PEACEPLUS Local Community Action Plan
Description : Sligo County Council seeks to appoint a suitably qualified Contractor to develop/design, facilitate, and implement a thirty month programme of activities, that break down social barriers and promote understanding of difference through exploration of heritage, history and folklore from different perspectives. Specifically, this project seeks to explore shared coastal and maritime history and heritage, the folklore of various Irish and new communities, and reflect on Irish myths and legends looking at commonalities and difference and examining the reasons for same. The programme reflects the co-design of communities to use looking backwards to move forward and is in keeping with themes of PEACEPLUS Programme. The Project will act as a catalyst for dialogue, understanding, and positive change, leveraging history, heritage, folklore and legends to understand the diverse narratives that shape communities in Sligo County and the wider PEACEPLUS region. The project is part of an integrated programme of actions aimed at promoting a peaceful and prosperous society. Shore2Shore will facilitate participants from diverse communities to offer a window into their experiences and understanding of the past, while challenging them to consider a different perspective and their own world view. The successful tenderer will demonstrate an understanding of co-design approach and experience of social inclusion and community research projects.
