The system will be used in both teaching and research applications. Technical Reasons for Award without Prior Publication: As per Article 32 of EU Directive 2014-24, University College Cork wishes to avail of the negotiated procedure without prior publication because competition is absent for technical reasons. While it is acknowledged that NMR Systems can be acquired from various vendors, Magritek GmbH system, SPINSOLVE 90 Multi-X ULTRA is the only benchtop system that with the combination of the following specifications. Benchtop/Portable System 1H frequency: 90 MHz field strength Sensitivity: >240:1 (for a dual channel model, sensitivity is measured following the ASTM method in a single scan on a 1% ethylbenzene sample dissolved in deuterated chloroform. The signal used for the calculation is the one of the methylene group and the noise is calculated for a signal free region between the aromatic and the methylene signals.) The higher the sensitivity, the faster the measurements (2x more S/N – 4 times faster) and the lower the concentrations possible that can be worked with. The system needs to be very sensitive with a very fast analysis time. This is a specific requirement for the research work planned and for training and teaching on the taught MSc in Analytical Chemistry programme. Resolution: Linewidth at 50% <0.2 Hz, Linewidth at 0.55% <8 Hz, Linewidth at 0.11% <16 Hz. We require the best linewidth and narrowest resolution for the analytes of interest. Multiple nuclei measurement capability - for example 1H, 19F, 13C, 31P, 23Na all on one system. We require multiple nuclei measurement on the same system without compromising the sensitivity.
