This programme facilitates PhD candidates in developing the competences that they need to successfully complete their PhD trajectory and that they need in their further career as an independent researcher. The Doctoral Education programme consists for the main part of freely chosen courses in three (3) competence categories (discipline related skills, research skills and transferable skills) of the Doctoral Education Competence Model. For each category, a PhD candidate must obtain 15 GS credits, making a total of 45 GS credits. 1 GS-credit equals 12 hours of Doctoral Education, including both in-class and self-study workload. For the categories research skills and transferable skills, the TU Delft Graduate School offers a range of courses to choose from. All courses are taught in English. In part these courses are organised by in-house TU Delft lecturers, but a substantial part is provided by external parties. Next to the freely chosen courses, there are also a few mandatory elements. One of these mandatory elements is the PhD Start-up course. A course that every PhD candidate should partake in during the first year of their PhD trajectory. The PhD Start-up course is divided into two (2) modules; • Module A on personal and professional development for PhD candidates. • Module B on understanding and upholding scientific integrity in research. Only Module A is included in this call for tender. Module B is provided in-house by TU Delft lecturers.
